didnt they tell the US to get out. ?
well now ISIS is taking over parts of the Country.
If I were the US I would not go back in.

It's more complex than that, Linda.

There was a Civil war in the Philippines between the Moslem Island of Mindanao and the Christian remainder of the country since - well - forever. (Maybe 1950's?) Since long before the Americans left. And the Moslems have been terrorizing Mindanao for forever. This, unfortunately, is not new.

As for the "asked to leave" thing, the explosion of the volcano (Mt. Pinatubo) was a big catalyst.

The politicians there DID get a little greedy, (okay, a lot greedy) but there were a lot of other things going on, too. :geek:

I saw something today saying that ISIS in the Phillipines proves they are not attacking because of Western intervention. They are just out to get everyone, it seems.

In their eyes, if you are not a fellow Muslim, you are an infidel. And infidels have to convert or be killed. Just saw a 48 Hours program where a Philippino woman and her American born son traveled to visit family on the islands and were kidnapped by these Muslim terrorists. By the grace of God, she was released and her son escaped. The husband, back in the states paid $$$ thousands but the kidnappers had originally demanded $10million.

Don't visit the Philippines.
