I guarantee that school system is having a problem with certain parents wanting to spend all day with their kids at school. However, they should have taken the rifle approach instead of the shotgun approach and told those parents that they needed to leave their kids alone. Our society has forgotten the interpersonal skills of gentle confrontation and discussion. If the principal had sat down and explained that the parents were disrupting their kids' learning processes or whatever, I'm sure they could have come to an understanding.
On a different note, the high school here looks like a PRISON! I visited to give info about the Sea Cadets, and I got the creeps. It sits way back off the road with a big retention pond in front of it. So I drove in the long drive, past tall fences with barbed wire and a GUARD SHACK (for real!) to get in. That retention pond looked more like a moat to me! Sheez! So I mentioned this to one of the candidates running for superintendent and said my kids wondered if the kids in the school ever had the urge to jump the fence and make a run for it. He got the strangest look on his face and said, "Well, those fences are meant to keep people out, not in." You could have fooled me!
That does seem scary!
