For some reason the thing hanging in my living room made of a paper plate, yarn, and several paper fish (made by our three year old in Sunday School yesterday) was what I thought of first.

I immediately thought of a phone. Is that not common in your area?

I'm with Scott on this one. I thought you were asking about pre-school art projects!

In Europe, they say moBILE, whereas I say MObil (for the home).

My family watches the new BBC Sherlock so I knew immediately what a moBILE was.

I finally watched the video. I wish he had discussed solutions. It's true- the government knows all this stuff (and I really doubt that it is limited to Europe). So, what do we do about it?

I just watched the video and had mixed thoughts on it. On one hand, I do not like people storing info on me, or their ability to track my movements and communications with others. On the other hand, if I were lost/in an accident... and no one knew where I was, I'd be thankful that they could track my phone and find me. It is a mixed blessing/possible curse, this age of technology we live in.

I don't know what we can do to convince companies/government to not store our data. I believe some is stored to follow trends for future inventions/technology. Others definitely could be used to control circumstances that won't be in our favor.

I do know that we choose to use all these electronic devices. We can choose not to as well. Am I willing to give mine up at this point in my life? No. I like the convenience, I am also not wanting to be afraid of things that may or may not happen by a corrupt government or company. Would I give any/all of them up in the future? Possibly. If we were in immenent danger by using them, yes - I'd give up most anything if I thought it was a life or death situation. Problem is, unless towers are down, I would want to be able to connect with my dc to be sure they were safe. If that was not possible, I guess we all can do what was done in generations past... pray that all is well and safe in the lives of others. Obviously, we should be doing that already.

This is a slippery slope situation. Would love to know concrete things that can be done and are effective.
