from an elderly member of our t ea p arty. He told us he wanted this in the hands of every clegyman.

Christian Clergy,

You have within your grasp the ability to restore America to one nation under GOD. Imagine returning America to Christian values and Christian leadership.

How you ask? It is real simple. Stand up for CHRIST. He stood up for us and now it is our turn to stand up for HIM. Encourage your congregation to do the same thing. Stop being politically correct. Stand up and defend your Christian beliefs. Soon we will no longer be a Christian nation if we dont stand up and let our voices and votes be heard.

We must vote for conservative Christian values as a block. We must all vote! It is estimated that 30% of Christians are not registered to vote. Be sure every one in your congregation is registered to vote. You need not tell them how to vote but help them to learn what the candidates stand for. Organize your congregation to help every one to get to the polls to vote. Also, everyone needs to understand that just voting is no longer enough. We must all get involved to take our country back from those who would destroy it and us.

We can put prayer back in our schools. We can put truth back in our children's history books. We can keep "In GOD We Trust" on our money and the Ten Commandments in our public buildings. We can make gay marriage illegal. We can support the right to life. We can have a smaller government and not one that wants to control every aspect of our life and all of our money. We can be and stay FREE CHRISTIAN AMERICANS.

We must all become Christian soldiers. Onward Christian soldiers least we all be destroyed by another smooth talking politician very similar to the one who nearly destroyed the Jewish nation. Think about how similar they are. We can no longer pretend not to notice what is going on and then hide behind the excuse that I cant do anything about it or my vote doesnt matter. You can do something about it. Stop being lazy and get involved. Be a Christian soldier. Stand up for what you believe in or lose it. Dont be quiet. Tell everyone you can get to listen about what is going on and encourage them to join us. Dont be afraid of what they might think.

We can save America from the socialistic liberals who take from the workers and give to the non-workers, the gay community, and the Islamic radicals who strive to convert all of America to Islam by using our own existing liberal laws to protect themselves.

America and GOD needs you. Stand up for what you believe in. Protect your children and grandchildren from an ungodly nation.

Onward Christian soldiers

Best Regards,
Conservative Christian Soldier

The Bible tells us to respect the government authority about us, so we must respect them and their beliefs. We do however have to stay true to our beliefs. We do have to encourage each other to do what the bible tells us to do. I have a problem with this letter. He mentions socialism and prayer in schools. These are things to fight but they aren't addressed in the bible. The Bible does tell us to fellowship and to admonish those that fall to the wayside. Those that are not following God's laws. I'm not saying we have to sit back and let all the changes in our country happen. We should, as good citizens, stand up and fight for what the founding fathers wanted when they wrote the constitution. We, as Christians, have to take a stand on what the Bible says: Homosexuality is wrong but we haven't been doing that for some time. If you look at your bible Divorce is wrong except under certain conditions but we've allowed it to become part of our lives too. That also doesn't mean we can't tolerate those who are divorced or homosexuals. Jesus tolerated the lepers, the tax collectors, the Samaritans. He knew that by extending them his love and tolerance they were more likely to be brought to God then by him turning his back to them. Please don't misunderstand me. My definition of marriage is between a man and a wife, it's biblically based. Homosexuality is wrong, it's says so in the bible but I can't turn my back on those that don't share my belief. I can't show them anger because not only is anger not biblical it will never be able to turn a non-believer into a believer. People like the author are those very people that make it so hard for us to convert non-christians to christians. Yes the author is right, we need to take a stand but on those areas that are specifically addressed in the bible. As a Christain we must not only take a stand but we must live it as well. As to fighting socialism and prayer in the schools those are issues of the heart. If you feel strongly about them then take a stand but don't take it in God's name, by doing so we risk becoming just like the Pharisees: making our own laws to glorify ourselves and what we think should be right. We have added more rules than God has given us and we have no longer kept him and his word at the forefront.

We spent several months working through a comprehensive analysis of whether and how Christians are supposed to interact with the government last year. Ultimately, we are to obey the government when and where possible. As far as any of us could find, there are only two commandments that were ever given priority over any other commandment. The greatest commandment (love God) and the second greatest commandment (love your neighbor, that is your fellow man). So, as long as the government is telling me to do things that don't violate those, I should obey the commandment to submit to the government. (the apostles specifically had to deal with this issue when dealing with the Jewish government in Acts 5:27ff)

Ultimately, we are salt and light and ought to be attempting to influence the world around us rather than allowing ourselves to be defined by the world around us. Principles of good stewardship and individual responsibility make me advocate for a system wherein benevolence is an individual responsibility on my part, not a societal responsibility. Jesus never told His followers to push for the Roman government to feed the poor, He told THEM to feed the poor. While we are to reach out to sinners, we are not to condone their behavior and Jesus stated quite clearly that marriage was for a man and a woman. There are some issues where a Christian can legitimately support either side of the issue, but there are some that are not.

We also need to be careful with the pointing fingers at "socialistic liberals" when there are "socialistic conservatives" all over that place. We need to stop drawing lines between parties, and bashing whichever one isn't "us" and take our stand on Biblical truth, not the "truth" of whichever agenda meets our wants/needs.

Yep. We need to be careful to remember where our identity is (or ought to be). I was having this conversation with a few friends a while back and one of them said something that's the most important. We're NOT Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, or Conservatives. We are first and foremost Christians. We can only be any of those other things inasmuch as they align with our Christian beliefs. No party aligns perfectly, and we ought not support the platform of any party in its entirety.
