It is so wrong for people to be made to go against their beliefs. I think questions should be asked before hiring someone and then when the issue comes up they can stand on that. (I know people change their minds later but you should have something to back you up.) I hated that I couldn't hire people that worshiped on saturday at my last job. But, I had to have people to WORK on saturday and they couldn't work that day. It was better to know up front than have to deal with it later. It should be the same for nurses and abortions or anything else that goes against their deeply held beliefs.

:( We got $799 a month for dh's social security. We recently got a notice that we now get $749 so we can pay for health insurance. No choice. It frustrates and angers me. I don't know if we'll get our two credit bills paid off now before the fees kick in. : \

I watched this happen to my Mom for years. Soc Sec would give a COLA, then take most of it, or more than all of it for a Medicare increase. Some years she got a $3./mo raise to compensate for inflation.

You know, it temps me to support a universal draft for young people. Because after you've had government make your health decisions once in your life, you seldom want to go back to that! (for instance, where I was, they decided an anesthesiologist was not needed for childbirth - for anyone - their choice, not the patient's : (
