Of course, this is mostly a symbolic gesture. The odds of the American government granting any state permission to go its own way are on par with winning the lottery while getting hit by a meteor while seeing Bigfoot while finding gluten-free pizza that tastes like the real thing.

This was a topic under consideration at our t e a party meetings. I would stand behind TX's decision to secede. We got a gov who has already uttered that possibility because of his own stand offs with BO. The US gov is now suing TX because we've cut gov funding for planned parenthood.

Just checked and TX has over 60K signatures, including mine

Last time states seceded, they were invaded in "The War of Northern Aggression." Our country was set up as a group of united states, meaning that the states had the power and were united only on the aspects in the Constitution. States rights pretty much disappeared in 1865, and they are going to be hard to get back.

I just saw a map of the "country of Texas" and my little part of WA is included! LOL I always said I'd never live in TX and it looks like they'll have me anyway! ;-)

The way the country was founded, a state was a voluntary member of the United States. Therefor it didn't have to ask permission to leave. I just noticed that reference.

Someone once told me that Texas had a special agreement on joining the Union which gave them an exceptional right to part ways - but I've never seen a reference on that or where the person got that idea.

We have military bases and ships.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Sounds like there's a potential for some interesting stuff to happen tho'!

I can't find the "map" of the country of TX but it includes two other "countries" - Californistan (which includes Oregon and most of WA) and Chicagostonia. Actually I *hgve* the map on fb but don't know how to post it here.
