We saw something about it on the news and couldn't believe it! We didn't even know it was possible to jump from space and fall for 4 minutes! Where do people get the nerve to do these things?

My dh and I did. It was scary for me. ;) My heart was racing, I was actually getting nauseous as I watched him free fall and then start tumbling. When he got straightened back out and started talking I started feeling better. It is pretty incredible to think that someone can do that and survive, and that they would even think it was a fun thing to do. I'm definitely not that brave. He almost broke the record for longest free fall, just a few seconds off. He did break the record for highest balloon flight. Didn't hear if he did break the record for sound barrier, so if he did that is cool. He definitely has no competition from me. LOL.

I knew it was going to happen but I wasn't going to watch it live!!!! :o  I watched it later and his landing was AMAZING!!!

He did break the free fall from a platform record with the buy that made that record watching. 8-) And he broke the sound barrier. But, was there any noise??? Maybe a body isn't big enuf to cause any noise?

I think it is a speed thing on sound barrier, rather than the sound itself. You know, the speed that sound travels or something. I'm sure there was a lot of wind noise though! ;) In my case it would have been the sound of screaming. LOL.

I think "breaking the sound" barrier makes a clap, like thunder. Planes aren't allowed to do it over cities any more because they can be VERY loud. At least that's my understanding. I remember "sonic booms" from when I was little and they were pretty scary!

24 miles in 4 minutes - beyond comprehension.

I wonder if they have a recording device on him that recorded the "clap" or if they were able to hear it on the ground. It couldn't have been that loud you would think, since his body is much smaller than say, a big plane... Not sure how that works.
