Okay. So the government says it is "shutting down" today. It's a Saturday. When have you EVER found a government employee at his or her post on a Saturday?
(I should mention, the post office doesn't count here - nor does the military).
The news articles detail all the things that "might not" get done if this shut down is LONG. All the agencies have a skeleton crew on to do the necessary stuff.
And their threats of "this won't get done" kinda sound like when you were a kid & your mom got mad, and said, "That's it! I've had it! I'm NOT making dinner tonight! I'm tired of working for THIS family
! If you're hungry, you'll just have to go pour your own Captain Crunch
!" And you knew good and well that the PLANNED dinner that night was burnt creamed spinach, sauerkraut & tuna casserole
.
I mean, WHERE is the down side here?
