(this is a true story based completely and accurately on my experiences this weekend) My phone rang Sunday morning at around 7:00. I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was our preacher, so I guessed he was calling to ask me to fill in for him (as I have frequently done as necessary). I was right, of course, so I ended up giving a sermon on relatively short notice. One of the main Scriptures we discussed was 1 Peter 3:15 (along with 2 Timothy 4:2). Go look them up. At the end of the morning service, I told everyone that I didn't know if our preacher would be feeling well enough to be back, but that if he wasn't I would be filling in again and our topic (which they would all appreciate) would be "Suffering for Christ." |
