I think this is cool: http://www.multimac.co.uk/home http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/ ... s-multimacWe are doing the car seat shuffle to fit three kids in the back of our truck. Luckily, it works and we don't have to buy a van because dh's truck is almost paid off. I think this invention would be cool to have if you have a car you have paid off or are close to paying off and you don't have room for that extra kid in the back. It would be cheaper than getting a whole new vehicle.

That would be great for GRANDMA's that don't have either enough room or the carseats. We drove 2 cars to the children's museum today because Susan's van was in use by my son, my husband's truck was in use by him, and my car will only take two carseats. So.....gas for two cars to drive to town.

It works out perfectly for us right now because ds is just now outgrowing his carseat (which he is very happy about, lol). He is still 20 lbs under the weight limit, but has reached the height limit. So he's moving to a booster seat, which frees up some space. Dd will still be able to stay in her carseat, which I'm happy about because I didn't want to move her to a booster yet. And then there's the infant carseat, which is pretty small. So, 2 car seats and a booster. It wouldn't work with 3 car seats unless we bought new expensive skinny car seats.

Great idea! But, I have bought cars with less money than that seat costs! Hopefully, with competition cheaper models will come out soon.
When we were a kid we also had an invention that allowed extra people in a seat. It was called a lap ; ) (Don't relish those days, tho)
I remember we had a tiny Opal station wagon when I was a kid, and Mom fit herself, 4 kids (one was a teen) and a St. Bernard dog into it. When we all got out, it was like one of those little clown circus cars : )

When my dh had his truck and my dc were small-ish.. whenever we went to my mom's and needed to haul something, we'd take the truck. ALL 5 us in the front seat and our dog on the floorboard. Thankfully, we were never stopped.
