I have places reserved for my ds and I to go to their orientation meeting tomorrow!!
He is still sore and a little swollen from his teeth being pulled but I think he will be ok. His speech is still a little hard to understand.
I still am not comfortable with him being a police officer but I told him I'd support his decision.

Glad you got him a slot : )

Who knows, after some experience, he might decide a different path is better for him.

He's really excited about this. He's talked about it for several years now.
He also loves dogs so K-9s may be more the area he's looking at.
They are having a K-9 demonstration tomorrow and I haven't told him. I'm going to let him be surprised.

It can certainly be an honorable trade! We have a family member who is a police officer : )

That is exciting, Tory!

Good for your ds! It's a good step in the right direction. It may be just the thing he needs to decide if this is something he wants to pursue or not. That sounds exciting!

That's great!! My ds really enjoys this program. I'd far rather him do this than some of the other things he has mentioned as possibilities. :0)

We had a good time. It was very interesting and informative.
Ds wasn't going to go. He kept saying he didn't feel good.. but I told him that this wasn't like his driver's license test where he could just decide to go the next day. I told him he was going! Then I had to break my secret and tell him they were doing a K-9 demonstration!
He did go and when we first walked into the room, he was white as a sheet. He looked SO scared. I had asked him if he was nervous and he told me no.. but he looked terrified once we got in there.
Well... once everyone started talking and showing slides, he relaxed. He's very interested in this. He was smiling and nodding his head at all of the training they have. Then we took a tour of the jail.
We then went outside and watched a demonstration of the Explorers making a traffic stop, they called in the K-9 dog to sniff for drugs.
Then they had a man pretend to run away and the K-9 dog was supposed to stop him.. only the drug sniffing dog came and the owner said "How'd you get out (of the car)??" so he stopped and put the dog back inside the car. Then it happend again!! He laughed and told us she was rolling down the window and getting out! LOL!
She wasn't happy about missing out on the fun.
Then they finally were able to have the other K-9 tackle the "bad guy" and that was pretty cool to see. (I never want to have one of them called to get me! eek!)
Beautiful dogs but very highly trained to attack.
After that we all went inside and had pizza and socialized and asked questions.

Glad you had a lovely evening - and glad you made him go! (sometimes we ALL just need a kick in the right direction :)
