It's such a poor country, I'm sure these students made great sacrifices to help their teacher When I lived there, I knew a teacher who quit a teaching job because being a waiter in a restaurant frequented by tipping Americans paid so much better. I knew many people who made $30. a month - "wealthier" people got $50. Some who worked regular jobs made as little as $10. |
