When I was 20-something, Thanksgiving landed on a Sunday. We went to Church before our big feast that afternoon. To my shock and horror, the Pastor preached a sermon on Gluttony. I thought (and I think even said  ) "What horrible timing! It's a feast day! We'll eat today and worry about gluttony another time! That sermon should have been preached in JANUARY when everyone wants to cut back."

Now, I suspect he was wiser than I then realized.

Today's news article is a reminder.

What are your thoughts on Gluttony & the BIG Feast?

 Yikes! I did weigh in this morning and i'm right where i was a couple days before. I don't like stuffing myself. I'm more of a grazer. :P Is THAT gluttony?

I haven't read the articles yet.

I did want to say i figured out how to use my fancy scale and it says my bone density and body water are perfect. :) The *FAT* level is "off the chart" so to speak. (But not literally.)

I'm still trying to figure out where the line is between "feasting" and "gluttony" for ME - I certainly can't calculate it for you! It's "above my pay grade" (as my dear friend likes to put it ; )

Great job on keeping your weight even! I think I'd rather NOT have a "fancy scale" Ignorance IS bliss, after all! ; )

Gluttony is a consistent way of eating. Feasting is occasional. You're welcome. 8-)

So, if I say, "It's okay, this is a special occasion!" every time I eat, I'm good to go? ; )

(I have a good friend who tells me that EVERY time she offers me something unhealthy & overindulgent - which is pretty much all the time ; )

That has been our problem, too. It's not worth it, imho, to overindulge for every little thing like birthdays. A piece of cake is not unreasonable - not gluttony. There are specific "feast days" - and i don't think those include very many of "our" holidays. You don't even have a weight problem, do you? But you do want to be an example to others, i'm sure. ;)
