No, I had not heard of it.

Even more surprising, apparently it was a *politically motivated* shooting and still wasn't publicized. Even the article you posted didn't mention the apparent political motive

It was up on foxnews' youtube when it broke, and followed with updates. I have friends in TN, a retired Church of Christ pastor. They are just south of where this happened. These folks are salt of the earth types.
