I can't believe the stuff they call news nowadays.

This guy spent ALL DAY in the sun without sunscreen or sufficient clothing, and had the same result that I typically have in less than 1 hour on any tiny bit of exposed skin that I fail to cover. It hits national news.

(watch out for bad language below the pictures)

Is it news that fair skinned folk who are sun sensitive shouldn't be stupid?

Well, #1 - he's a MAN.
#2 - he's a YOUNG man.
#3 - he lives in Scotland and perhaps he hasn't seen a lot of sun.
#4 - we all do stupid stuff.
#5 - it was probably a slow news day.

LOL

I am a CA blonde and know better HOWEVER... i usually stay inside and rarely think to put sunscreen on BECAUSE i usually stay inside. I went to a softball game (several years ago now) and never tho't about it. My legs from the knees down were burned "to the bone"! That's what it felt like anyway, and i couldn't walk for a couple of days. I feel his pain! Vinegar and cool water got me thru.

For sunburn, it's the worst!

I got my Grandmother's skin (she was a redhead) but brown hair. I have NO melanin in my skin - at all. I don't brown - ever. I have a bizarre allergic/severe burn condition with tiny exposure. Thank God, we're discovering that DD got a little of Daddy's melanin, so I'm panicking less as she gets older. Which is to say, I'm not keeping her coated in sunscreen for 15 minutes' exposure.

My blonde sister, OTOH gets a beautiful, golden tan (she actually was the model for a suntan lotion ad once!)

But I don't see what his being a man has to do with it. The men I know are pretty bright & sensible!

BTW - I understand the "we all do stupid stuff sometimes" sentiment - it's the news I'm faulting here, not the sunburnee.
