On the way to work yesterday i saw a large bird flying towards a bird that was sitting at the top of an evergreen tree. The big bird seemed to be landing only a foot from the other bird but it couldn't sit there for some reason and flew on. The other bird didn't flap its wings or anything but then i saw that the large bird was a GOOSE!  So funny! I kept thinking of captions like "i've gotta lose weight" or "could you tell me the way to...".

Geese DO like high perches! Ours like to sit on third story rooftops here!

But, webbed feet and tree branches? not so good :?

I've never seen one try to perch in a tree before! :geek:

I imagine a caption like "You make it look so easy! *I* have two left - I mean webbed - feet!" ;)

I know! The geese in the town where i work are kinda weird anyway. They are often seen on top of the grain bins. I suppose that's not really weird but it sure looks weird. That's where the pigeons usually hang out. LOL

Canadian geese? Those things are taking over every lake and pond here. I've never seen them perch on anything. I would think they'd be too heavy for a tree top, but perhaps they didn't get the memo! Lol! .

Canadian Geese used to be hunted (as in: "We're having goose for Christmas this year")- but their numbers decreased, and laws were enacted to forbid hunting them.

Now, their numbers are quite high, but the laws haven't been changed to stop protecting them.

So, yeah, they're everywhere.

Yes! Ds and I were discussing this the other day. The law is still in place and they are taking over and ruining the populations of other water birds.

They are all over the place here... And I never even saw one until about 20 years ago! Now, they are in every lake and pond here!
