I don't know what it's called actually. It's like a "kettle", i guess but there's nowhere to take off a lid and clean out the inside. I just keep pouring water in the spout and boiling water in it for tea and cocoa and stuff. I don't even want to know what it looks like inside (and *I* don't use that water) but IS there a way to clean it???

Vinegar and water. Let it get hot then let it sit so it steams... Once it starts to cool, shake it around to keep coating the inside with the vinegar. Then pour it out and rinse.

Yes - Tory's right : ) Especially for hard water deposits. And, we actually just use straight vinegar when we do it.

Also, in the restaurant, we used to put crushed ice & comet and swirl it vigorously inside pots to scour the inside - it worked pretty well. But, of course you have to be sure to rinse it extra carefully.

Well, in a restaurant, of course, the pots are glass. So you can *see* when you've rinsed them thoroughly : )

I resorted to Oxyclean to get the coffee residue gunk out of my thermos. I have nothing long enough to get down in it to scrub it.

Maybe this water pot should accidentally get badly dented and require replacing lol. When I got my gas stove my first accessory was a stainless steel stove top percolator. Living in hurricane country where they knock the power out for a week, it is a medical necessity to be able to make coffee! I actually use this pot daily to boil water then steep tea to make iced tea. We drink a gallon a day (unsweetened lol) and this is a convenient way to make it and I can clean it easily.
