Dh still wants to go thru Denver on the way to OK. The drive *is* beautiful, whereas the open plains of MT and WY are just FAST. :o

It looks like we'd drop down from Cheyenne and then take a left at Denver and get outta Dodge that way. Coming down 66 then going east on 70. How do I find out the air quality/road closures in that area?

Like you, I've never dealt with this situation & am not from the area, but I found the following helpful-looking things online:

http://www.highwayconditions.com/united_states/

http://www.coloradodot.info/travel

I'm hoping someone local can give you even better info, but I wanted to help a little in the meanwhile.

Things are clearing up and unless there is another unexpected fire issue, you should be fine now. The fire at Fort Collins is contained, the Colorado Springs fire was at 80% containment last night. The smoke issues are decreasing and hopefully soon the fires will be out. Just watch the news for new fires just in case. We are getting a little rain and that is helping, temps are supposed to drop this next week and that will help even more.
