I hope the storms are passed and the blue skies are here! It's been beautiful here but chilly. SO glad to have NOT sucked water for the last 2 days!!! (and nights!!)

I threw together a minestrone soup this morning - in the crockpot. I needed to use up some veggies. Between me and my mom we end up with plenty of veggies!

It also looks like dh went shopping with the kids while i was working. Fruit Loops? Who knows what else. He's playing the good grandpa during spring break.

I don't notice weather much, but now that you asked, I can see outside that it looks springlike - warmer than it has been (59 according to the web) & damp - but not currently raining.

Froot Loops are a great treat once in a while! (not MY thing - I prefer Cinnamon Toast Crunch ; )

He's a great grandpa to do that for the kids : )

(I know I've asked before - but I can't remember - why don't you use a sump pump that would do that pesky job for you?)

The minestrone sounds great! : )

A sump pump needs a hole to sit in. The water doesn't get deep enough on the floor for a sump pump to work, it just spreads like a small stream from one side of the room to the other and then under the closet on the far side and into our room where the carpet soaks it up. :? If we dug a hole thru the concrete floor and installed a sump pump........... hmmmm. :ugeek:

Yup - that's how it's done : )

You do have to put a hole in the floor (or a french drain - or some other method) for it to work properly - but that seems way better than sitting up all night, every night during rainy season!

Any idea what is CAUSING the problem? Is there a chance you could clean a downspout, or pile some dirt next to the foundation that would make the water run away from the house - or some fancy fix like that ?

We had a cold front come through Sunday during church. There was an active tornado warning. No place I would rather be, we have those really heavy wooden pews to dart under just in case.

Today it's fixing to break record heat, 90! Tomorrow's front will bring temps back to normal.

There's an underground river that probably stems from a (or several) spring above us. The water runs diagonally from house to house all the way down to the real river. It only comes into the house when the ground is saturated like when the snow is melting fast and it's raining. It raises the water table.

That's my best guess. :)

Besides the sturdy pews  it's nice to be with other believers at such a time.

AHHH - I get it! My Mom's house was also near an Artesian Spring. Definitely a case for a sump pump - ours seemed to run all.the.time. if it was damp out!

Couldn't agree more! And, even if it's "your time to go" - no better way to show up for Judgment Day than wearing your "Sunday Best" - both literally & figuratively speaking :)
