half of freon was gone.
The warranty will cover to replace the coil that is leaking and we pay labor, which is 700- to 900 dollars,.
Hopeing to get it done by end of or first of October. The replacement will be aluminum not copper.
:(

When they DO replace it, you keep that copper!!!!! Seriously. You can recycle it and get money back. If they take the unit, they will just recycle it for the copper anyway.

NO, they are completely replacing the coil and they give it back to the company.
They are not replacing it with copper, it will be aluminum now.

see this link, scroll down it tells about the aluminum coils.

What I mean is.. when they take the old coil out... it's copper, right? You should keep that copper and you recycle it. Copper is worth a pretty penny these days.
Don't let them keep the copper. It's yours. YOU can recycle it for cash.

In Ohio, the law is that removed parts belong to the owner, not the repair person. Like Tory says - ask for the used part. If you give it to them, you are just giving them money. And, with as much as you're paying them, I don't think they need any MORE of your money!

My sister cleans apartment units and she cleans out abandoned houses. If they have an A/C unit that needs to be replaced.. she is allowed to haul off the old units. It's her job to "trash out" these places. The A/C units she strips down and gets the copper out and takes it to the metal recycling plant. They pay her for the copper.
Take your reciept showing that it's YOUR copper from your replaced coil... because the laws are getting strict about recycling with so many people stealing a/c's for the copper.

Since that Part is still under warranty , they have to have the old one back basically to see why it went bad.

Now that is a crock. They will be making money off of the old part. Hmmm
