My dil was here this weekend and sparked my desire to begin learning Spanish again. I have the ACE paces and i went thru one whole pace today (7 lessons). It was all review, of course.
Then i was looking at other things to do and i started watching a show turned to Spanish language and subtitles. It didn't take long to realize that it was way too fast and complicated to get much out of it! I googled it and read a few ideas.
1) Choose a children's show! A nice short one - not a movie. I'm watching Julies Greenroom on Netflix. It's in French, German and Mandarin, too!
2) Be familiar with it - watch it in English once or twice so you know what's going on. (I put Spanish subtitles on but paid attention to the story line.)
3) Watch it a few times in Spanish with the Spanish subtitles, or until you notice you don't read the subtitles very much.
4) Watch it a few times in Spanish without the subtitles.
That's a lot of watching the same show! A series is recommended because there will be repetition of a lot of the vocabulary at the same level.
