Today took DD to the doc.

There I met not one but TWO (count 'em - two- - one lay, one professional!) people who thought that she couldn't possibly have been exposed to something contagious because she is homeschooled.

(I hate letting her out of her cage to take her to the doctor! ;) )

I'm sure it did ;) - but then she had to come right back home for her quarantine (not joking on the quarantine part : (

It's "just" bronchitis (they think this is one of the highly contagious ones that is going around here) - God willing (and your prayers helping) she should be on the mend in a few days :)

There is some of that going around here, too. :(

I will keep your little one in my prayers. I'm sorry she's sick. Boo on the quarantine! Poor dear only just got to get out of her cage!! :P

You crack me up. Cage. Cute.

I'm sorry your little is sick! Hopefully she gets healthy relatively quickly. That's no fun!

I'm just curious - do I need to be prepared for people to say idiotic things anytime I tell them we are home schooling or was this more of a one-er-two-off situation? :)

Some people say they hear a LOT of weird comments, but I personally, hear very few.

I DO hear more when we travel where homeshooling is illegal, and therefore very unfamiliar. But, I just consider it an opportunity to give a sales pitch for how great homeschooling is ; ) And I've won a lot of people over.

Usually simple points like:
My daughter doesn't have to worry about being shot at in school

carry a lot of weight in other countries ; )

And, the longer people know us and our homeschooling situation, the more persuaded they become. One person who used to argue vociferously now says, "well of course you have to home school - it's obviously the best thing you can do for your daughter!"

Allow people time to warm up, and don't get offended if they're uninformed about something when it's new to them. Forgive the occasional strange assumption : )
