Our day was good with plenty of food and 26 in attendance. The weather was great. 81 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!

We had a truly great Thanksgiving! : )

Thanksgiving is always a difficult holiday for me, and we just planned to go out to eat - which is pretty much how Mom usually did Thanksgiving many years. But, at the last minute, some friends invited us over. There were 10 people there total - a small group. The food was all Greek rather than Traditional American Thanksgiving food (except we did have cranberry sauce, and some steamed sweet potatoes). The music was all Greek. Other than a prayer before meals, we didn't do any of the "traditional" customs like "what are YOU thankful for this year" that make me so uncomfortable.

All in all, I'd say it was one of the best Thanksgivings I've ever had : )

That sounds like a really nice day, Anna! We don't do the "what are you thankful for?" thing either.

Funny story from our day:
My Ds loves cranberry sauce. He would get so disappointed each year when we forgot to get any. So this year he bought a can of it 3 weeks in advance!

Last night I had to break the news to him.... HE forgot the cranberry sauce this year! It's still in my refrigerator!

Well, I guess at least he can still enjoy it for the next week! : )

Well one kiddo went to FL, the other (the chef) went to cook for friends, so it was just the youngest over with her bf. We invited two single folk with no where else to go, one showed up. We made two birds differently seasoned. Dd made green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole (I have to get her recipe!) Yes, they put me to shame. Dh made bread. I made the mistake of forgetting to chill the cranberry in the fridge (I like the jelly stuff in a can). So I put it in the freezer. It was semi-frozen and had bloomed and turned pink in spots. Didn't know of it was a bad can or just the effects of the cold. It thawed out okay. it was a nice day. Our single friend is from the Azores and she shared a video collage of her island country. She speaks several languages and is in the US perfecting her English.

You like the canned, jellied stuff, too?! It was my Mom's favorite! She'd eat it for a snack any time of year. (I loathed it) I didn't realize that the whole berry, homemade stuff existed till I was well into my teens.

The video collage sounds interesting : )

Found it online, Acores Natureza Magica. There is a nice, soft, relaxing instrumental music throughout. The VisitAzores website had a short video with jarring guitars and drums.

It does look lovely (I only watched the first so far)

What's your personal connection to the Azores? Do you have a parent or a family member from there, or do you just like it ? : )

It's where our friend is from. Both my grandfather's were from the Canary Islands, one immigrated to Puerto Rico, the other to Cuba. So I must naturally gravitate to islanders.
