I have to come up with 3 little gifts every month for a group of seniors that meet at our church. Some of the ideas in the past, some I have found online include:

individual food items, tea, coffee, can of soup, etc
sugar free candies
dried fruit
hand lotion
soap
lip balm
emery boards
automatic night light
pen/paper

Does anyone have any other suggestions? These are supposed to be under $3.

Little things to entertain their grandkids when they visit. Stickers, crayons, mini coloring/activity books, etc. (I know from experience that family visits go oh-so-much better when there's something for the young set to do while the grown ups chat - and older people spend a lot of time shopping for such things)

Greeting cards or stationery to send to friends.

postage stamps

handy magnifiers

word games

Sudoku

Nostalgia candy (Blackjack gum, necco candies, etc)

I was going to say chocolates, old fashioned ribbon candy... but you had listed sugar free. Are they diabetic? If not, I'd go for favorites of theirs from days gone by (or newer things they love in this time of life).

Yarn if they knit/crochet, large print books.

How up to date on electronics are they? CD's, an old movie from the $1 bin at Wal*mart.

Sometimes dentist offices will donate boxes of toothbrushes and or paste to needy causes. I know socks would be over $3 but you could buy one pack of ladies and one pack of mens and give them each one pair. I know they need things like that a lot.

I guess, since we don't know these ladies and gentlemen, it is hard to know if the items are more personal or ?? Do you know these people well? Do you spend time with them inside the church/outside the church? What is the purpose of the gifts?

We did this awhile back at our church---a few things I remember (that aren't listed already):

Shampoo

Tissue boxes or the small purse size packs

Nail clippers

Q-Tips

Playing cards

Purse size calendars

Knee-hi(s) for the ladies

Magazines (crafts, sports)

Snack size--- fruit cups, pretzels, potatoe chips, crackers
