Hebrews 12:1

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Heb 12:1

I saw this posted on fb this morning and realized that when I usually hear this verse quoted it's only from "Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us".

I think the previous phrase should always be linked with it. How can we run the race if we are shackled?

We had to learn that as a memory verse at camp over 20 years ago and I still remember it. We also had to learn 1 Co 9:24 that week. (we learned the NIV back then - "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.")
