Ds was to move into college Fri and we were going to help him but dh boss said he couldn't have anytime off due to an upcoming conference. Well, ds school changed the way they do check-in this year due to lots of construction around the four dorms he will be staying at. To help ease the problem they gave the student's appointment times to show up and hired professional movers to unload their stuff and carry it to the dorms. Ds appt time was 6:30-7:30pm and he could be there a half hour earlier if he wanted to. Ds decided he could handle the move himself so he got there at 6:00pm. He didn't get unloaded until 10:30pm and there was still more people waiting behind him. They moved the students in by floors. There are 4 dorms with 12 rooms on each floor and 2 people to a room. They gave all those students 2 hours to get in. Can you guess why he didn't get in until 10:30.
Then on top of that the professional movers were only hired until 8pm even though they still had students scheduled to come in from 7:30-9:30. So from 8pm until whenever students helpers had to move in all the people staying in those dorms. Oh and did I mention 2 of those dorms were Freshmen dorms. I bet there were plenty of angry parents. Dd was scheduled to move in at 8:30am today but since we would have had to leave at 6:00am we got permission to move in tomorrow. Can you imagine if we hadn't done that. We would have gotten home at 1:30am and had to turn around and leave again at 6:00am. What a mess! Don't know who's wild brain this idea came from.
Just hope check out isn't as bad. So now you can see why I'm happy dh didn't get day off
