Woohoo! I'm so excited! Sheesh these nursing books are heavy!

Today was my last day at work. It was bittersweet.

I hope I get some sleep tonight!

Thanks Anna. I am here. We have a break. We are getting ready to set up our testing information on our laptops, so I have access to the boards for a moment. I can't believe we are starting out with 46 students. Only 14 graduated 2012. Um wow!

I purchased all my books in a bundle last week for my entire 2 year nursing program. Today when we set up the code accesses that came with the bundle every single book became available online to us when we sign into our account. The program is amazing. You can search information in your books, bookmark studies or topics, highlight in different colors-like using one color for test notes-one color for teacher's references. It also tallies all of your scores on quizzes and tests and if you are weak in one particular order it self builds you a study guide to help you in the area you are weak in. I'm simply blown away by this technology.

They said in the near future that these programs would do away with the actual books and use online access only. I love that I can download it to my computer so that even if I do not have internet access I can still study every single book and my notes on my laptop.

Upstairs in our training center there is an entire floor set up like a hospital. There is a nursing station, patient rooms with mannequins and some of them are simulated like human beings! You can take bps on them and different things. They can program one of them with conditions and we will have to figure out what is wrong! Amazing!

My real classes start Wednesday next week. Then clinicals the week after. Thanks for the encouragement ladies!

WOW! I am AMAZED at the textbook technology you have! That's great - and I haven't heard of it in any other academic settings yet.

If for some reason you can't complete the program, do you get money back for those pre-paid texts? That many texts must cost a small fortune (more than my first few cars put together ! ; )

The total for everything for the two year program, included all books and supplies. Everything but uniforms and shoes was around $1,600. Thankfully I have financial aid or I wouldn't be doing this venture to begin with, well financial aid and my mother-in-law who is so graciously helping us while I go to school.

I can sell the books to new coming students but would not get any money back. Once those codes are opened there are no refunds. If someone purchased my books used they'd still have to purchase their codes. They were somewhere around $300? I believe? I'm not sure how much the nursing supplies were.

That's really not a bad deal for two years of books & supplies!

I'm glad technology is advancing in this area - I like the idea of one day not having to carry 50# of books in a backpack : )
