My ds is to drive himself and his siblings to church tonight!!
DO I drive the siblings and have ds go by himself or is it ok for them all to go with ds??
I'm just beside myself. He's a good driver, but I'm still hesitant about this whole thing.
It'll be dark by the time they get home. He's driven after dark before.. but never without me in the car, lol!
I'm having control issues.
Help.

They will all be fine! In GA, I THINK that the first 6 months after getting your license you can only drive family members (like siblings). But I am also thinking that this rule applies for those under 18.

When my ds was 18, he was doing a co-op at the AF base 30 miles away. On one of his "work rounds" he was put on the swing shift, which meant driving home from work around midnight. He made it!!

You want them to grow up and gain some confidence and independence. Now is a good time. Have him (or one of the others) call you when they get there, and call or text you right before they head home if that will ease your mind any.

He is a young adult now - Do you trust him with your other children? That is the main question here. I always enjoyed having an extra driver in the house...it was a huge blessing to me.

Take a deep breath, calm down, and enjoy this season of your life.

There has to be a first time for such things. If his siblings will be quiet, calm and not distractive in any way, he will probably be extra cautious because they are with him and he will do find. If you trust in his driving ability, then trust him in this.

as long as the children are not little ones, and his brother and sister do not distract his driving. sit and talk but not "look at that" and would distract him.
Call before leaving.
DD has not driven in dark yet. We will work on that as fall gets closer. She does very well during the day. She has been driving on her own since she turned 18 in June.
My concern is someone distracting them. She does not even turn on the radio.

You are having control issues. Stop that!

Call me old fashioned. Mom's policy was no juvenile passengers for the first year of driving, unless she was in the car. I like that rule.

You DO have to start sometime. It doesn't necessarily have to be the day after you get your license.

Trust your instincts. You know your son better than anyone. You also know if you are being controlling or not. Take all things in consideration, pray, and make the decision.

lol! I know.. I know.
We had to go to the next town over today, which was a 30 mile drive. He had to drive on the hwy and I-95. Traffic was a bear and he did say how bad it was, however, he did well.
So, tonight I will let him go.
God help me.
I know he can do it and his siblings are not distracting at all. If anything, they are never so quiet as they are when he's driving, lol!
I've given him a long lecture which I'm sure he slept through most of, ;) but I had to say those things and anyway, they leave in less than an hour.
Please pray!
