My dainty little girl

Today, we were out for a morning walk, and I found a "teachable moment" there were cicada exoskeletons all around a tree, and their unique little holes were in the ground.

I naively pointed them out to dd and dh (from a respectful distance), explaining to dd what an exoskeleton was.

Then, DH *picked one up and handed it to her!*

Next thing I know, my delighted little girl has *handfuls* of the things, and wants to bring them into *my house!*

Where are gender stereotypes when I need them?!

LOL! My dc used to collect those things. They'd hang them from their clothes like broaches!
My dd wasn't afraid of them at all... but you let a spider crawl anywhere near her!! eek!

Last night after Church she went for another walk with Daddy while I fixed dinner for us (Pizza!)

Daddy reported that he was going to pick up a live one to show her, but she told him, "Mommy won't like it if you do that." : )
