On this board, we can set up levels by how many posts you have made. For example, we had stuff like newcomer, veteran, expert, etc. on the old board. I'd like to set the levels for things related to homeschooling. Have any ideas?

Well, perhaps it's because I'm a veteran, but I'm not a "ranking" kind of person. The person who showed up yesterday and has never homeschooled or parented before *might* be wiser than all of us.

But, I'm certainly flexible on the matter.

You could do school rankings: freshman, sophomore, etc. I can't think of things specific to homeschooling... "pioneer" is one that pops up from time to time for someone from long ago who led the homeschoolers (usually someone who started in the 70's).

I think that tying it to something like homeschooling level might be somewhat confusing to folks. If you look at how the post count breaks down for members, there is some pretty clear stratification. Look at the top 11, who have triple digits with the smallest of those being 120, then the next 13 go from 33 to 79, then the next 15 go from 2 to 11, then the next 15 have 1, then the final 21 have no posts.

I think that there are some psychological barriers that are crossed. Your first post, your second post (proving the first wasn't a fluke), double digits (you are commenting occasionally), and triple digits (you did have a life outside the board once, right?).

I think that if you gave designations to those then it would help draw a distinction (yes, I know a separate designation for 1 post versus 2-9 sounds pointless, but looking at the statistics it isn't). I would name them in such a way that your top category isn't seen as the pinnacle to allow for future categorization. My suggestion:
1 - Newbie
2-9 - Apprentice
10-99 - Journeyman
100-1000 - Veteran
1000-5000 - Craftsman
5001+ Master Craftsman
(reserve things like 10,000+ or 20,000+ for "Expert" or maybe just "Blabbermouth")

My numbers never represented how long I'd been on the site. My post count was way lower than some newer members. Odd since I'm a talker by nature.
