Took DD up to DMV at 7:30 this morning to get the provisional removed from her drivers license and get it for a full 6 yrs.
The line moved faster than we thought it would. This woman came out to talk to the front of the line, Miss High and Mighty. Could not hear half of what she said because she continued to talk when a garbage truck went through the parking lot. No brains. She would not repeat. What is it with people. I know I am sick of anyone who has to do with the state or city period.
Now you have to prove you are a US citizen . have SS card, bank records if necessary, you name it.
DD had to fill out a paper again, with all info that was on the drivers license and checked she was a US citizen, she had done this 9 months ago.
People kept going out the door to get what ever papers they left in their cars and thought they would not need. It was nuts.
We got out of there by 9:15. :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Yes, I just read that GA now has passed a new law about ID when getting a license.
In compliance with the Federal Real ID Act, as of July 1 anyone needing to apply for their first driver’s license or renew an expiring existing driver’s license must visit a DDS Customer Service Center in-person. As a part of the new protocol, customers must prove their identity and full legal name, Social Security number (SSN) and residential address. Once Georgia drivers have met these requirements, they will not have to repeat the process for subsequent renewals.

Customers may prove their identity and full legal name by providing either an original or certified copy of their U.S. birth certificate, a valid U.S. passport, or Certificate of Citizenship or other immigration form.

To prove their full SSN, customers must bring either their Social Security card, W-2 form with their full SSN, paycheck showing their name and full SSN, or documentation from the Social Security Administration displaying their name and full SSN.

Customers may prove their residential address by providing any two of the following: mortgage payment, deed or property tax, health insurance statement, Medicare or Medicaid statement, paycheck/paystub, letter from employer, W-2 from current or previous year, school record for the current and previous school year, income tax return for current or previous year, most recent utility bill, current rental contract/receipts for rent payment, or a recent bank statement

Linda, do I remember correctly that you have a hearing problem of some kind? it seems to me that if the person behind the desk refused to accomodate your hearing issue, you should have grounds for making a complaint against them.

Yes, but if she needed to talk to *you* about your daughter and refused to accomodate your hearing problem, she didn't act appropriately

Yep, that's a federal law -- the Real ID Act. Now all your information will be shared with the governments of the USA, Canada, and Mexico. And if you choose not to provide the info, you don't get a license. So much for privacy. Florida implemented this several years ago, and I think it's terrible. This is another indication of the "police state" we live in. Look up the definition of fascism and see how you think it compares to our country. :0(

It would be one thing if we were applying for a gun, or something.. this guy in CO was able to order all of those explosives and nobody questioned him at all...
yet try to get a license to DRIVE and you better have those papers.
