I asked one of our boys for online Japanese resources a while back when someone asked. He mentioned this one as particularly good, for those of you who were looking.

He also recommended Youtube for online classes - and sure enough, type in "Japanese Language" in the youtube search box, and they come right up : )

It was me asking for my dd. Thank you! I'll pass on the info to her. We can't do you tubes right now but hopefully soon. I'm sick of this slow internet and nothing loading.

Perhaps you could ask a friend to load it onto a storage medium of some kind for you, then play it at home? It might be an effective work-around if you can't get faster internet right now.

It's as expensive as Rosetta Stone but Oklahoma University has a Japanese course that homeschoolers are welcome to take. It's actually a high school course that many public schools use but they open it up to homeschoolers too. You do your work on the computer and then once a week you call the school and speak to a mentor. They will answer any questions you have and you will have a conversation with them in the language you are learning. My son did it for German and loved it, even though foreign languages are not his forte.

Tory, it depends on how big your files are. If it was me, I would take my whole computer to a place with a good connection (like a friend's house, or a restaurant with a connection (McD, St*rbux), and download a semester's worth of videos onto the hard drive of my computer. If you have fancier options, like a detachable hard drive, that would work too. But, videos take a lot of room, so I don't think a thumbdrive/memory stick would do it. Have no idea about ipods- they're too modern for me.
