My boys go to the orthodontist tomorrow for their first consultation appointment. They both need braces so we'll see what all they have to have done.

Both our girls were seen this year. We decided to start Rachel this year, and Leah starts next year. Two expensive for us to do both, and Leah still had some baby teeth we wanted to wait for. They are now out, so all her teeth will be in by the time she starts next Spring.
Rachel just started wearing head gear this week. Now that she has figured out how to configure her pillows, she is sleeping good again.

I'm glad you waited - so many kids get braces in junior high.
Two of our boys seemed to need braces at 12, but by 18 had straight teeth with no intervention.
I like the idea of waiting like you did.

My ds's had a ton of baby teeth we had to wait for. Their teeth came in late and they lost their baby teeth late. I think that's one reason they've had almost no cavities.
We kind of had to wait also, for the cost. Now they will pay for it themselves. One ds's teeth have straightened out somewhat. His front teeth are almost perfect now but the side "eye" teeth are not. My other ds.. he has major problems and I am thinking he'll need some pulled to make room.

Pam, I'm sure the headgear would cause sleep issues. How does she get comfortable with it?

Anna, that's funny you mentioned your boys teeth straightening out as they got older. That's what happened to my girls, too. My oldest dd's teeth are PERFECT, and my other dd only has one tooth that is slightly crooked, but it's not very noticeable.

CLW that's how dds' are now. They said she'd need them when she was 12. I waited because financially I had to.. but now, she only has one tooth on the side that is slightly crooked and she says she's NOT getting braces, lol! (With her texture issues, I doubt she could tolerate them in her mouth anyway.)
