My ds is doing a little better. He is still very cautious though.
I've been making him drive a little more but trying not to push it. He is easily distracted, takes his hands off the wheel, will pull into the other lane (oncoming traffic) etc.
This one is going to take some time.
He did drive us on the highway a little the other day because I made him.
He also drove us tonigh, it was still light out, but started a slow drizzling rain.
Please pray for him. He's so timid and cautious and needs to gain confidence.

When dd (14 in 2 weeks!) start the driving thing, I will be moving to that remote village in Alaska (you know...where you get mail just once a year?!?!?!).

I've already told my oldest son that teaching her to drive is HIS job (payback!!!). He said he would take her on. ;-)

How do those driver's ed teachers do it?! I wonder if they get hazard pay? And they usually have 3 students in the car at once! I remember how scary it was to get out there on the road with myself at the wheel. I learned to drive in L.A.! Fortunately, they had a new freeway that wasn't open yet and my girlfriend took me up there in her car and let me drive. She was so naughty!

I didn't like when my kids learned to drive and I've seldom been in the car with them driving. (Living thousands of miles away from them helps.) hehe It's not that I wouldn't drive with them, tho'. They're all good drivers.

Have him drive every day even if it is for 10 min,
I took DD out every day for half an hour. and in the evening every other night.
I would make him a chart.
putting down the day and that he checks off that he has driven 10 min or more.
That may help.

Sis, my drivers ed teacher told my Mom that I was the reason he started drinking. Totally not true, he was already doing so before I met him, but since I was short, and the seat had to get pulled up as far as it would go (bench seats, remember those?!) he had to ride with his knees practically under his chin. Add that to the fact I had never driven before and all my friends were farm kids with lots of driving experience, I was the problem child in the car. ;)
