Dh loves cool whip, I thought I'd treat him this past 4th of July with his favorites, angel food cake, strawberries and blueberries and cool whip.

The angel cake is still sitting on my countertop. Dd is having fun squishing it down and watching it rebound. We are all afraid of eating it since listed in the ingredients is sodium lauryl sulfate. I also noticed that cool whip now has skim milk and light cream in it. Wasnt that touted as non-dairy?

It was *touted* as non-dairy, but I don't think it ever truly was. It always had casein or something like that in it that put it off-limits to those who truly couldn't/wouldn't eat dairy. It also had the kosher symbol with the "d" on it all along.

But, yes, the skim milk & light cream are news to me.

I wouldn't not eat it this time, but keep it in mind for the future.

I'd eat both the angel food cake and the cool whip. I love them both. I figure I skip eating a lot of foods for their nasty chemical content, but unless someone is willing/able to make me a homemade angel food cake, I'll take what I can get!

I'm with you, Pam! That cake and the cool whip would not last 2 seconds around here!

My ds is allergic to coolwhip. He breaks out in hives everytime he eats it. :( And he loves it!

I have to admit, that if my concern were only taste, not health - I could probably live on cool-whip & hot fudge ; )
