hair clipper.
I cut DH's hair Saturday. It came out really good.
No more going to get his hair cut elsewhere.

We do it too! Saves a ton of money!

I got a video from the library & bought the clipper - about a $20 investment.

I've been cutting my own hair for about 15 years (I keep it fairly short), and even if I went to the cheapest place in town, I would have saved a couple of thousand that way. Some people spend $100 every 6 weeks for a cut & color. At that rate, I've saved about 10K! : )

I used to trim dd's but she wants styles I cannot do , so she saves her allowance and goes every weeks and gets a shampoo and cut for 15.00.
I stopped coloring my hair a long time ago.
I go once every 4 months or so to get it shaped up.

I have no interest at all in cutting anyone elses hair. I only get my hair cut once every few years and dh and ds go a few times a year, so it's not expensive. Dd has never had a haircut yet. It took forever for her to finally get a decent amount of hair.

I've been cutting dh's hair since we've been married....30+ years! I used to cut the boys' hair, but now that they are out on their own, they go where they want. I will not touch dd's hair! No way! I have removed myself from the "hair wars" with her...NOT a hill I want to die on! lol It's just better that way.

You are very brave Linda. The only time I have used the clippers is when ds said he wanted his head shaved...then I knew I could not make a mistake!

Dh's mom showed me how to cut my ds hair when he was one year old (she had 5 girls and 4 boys, so she learned how to cut hair). I scissor cut his hair until he was about 16. Dh bought himself the clippers and a FLO-BEE, clippers that use a vacuum to suction hair straight and leaves no mess). He still uses it once in awhile (hasnt needed it much with his thinning hair. I still scissor cut his hair when he gets mad at his barber. Ds now uses the clippers on himself, too.

I watched you tube videos on it and it was fairly easy. Just had to determine what size come to use , we went with the 1/4 , may to with the 1/2 inch one next time.

I shave my head 1-3 times a year and bought a pair of clippers back in the 90s to do this. (I end up going to get a haircut about once a year or every other year). Our 3 year old son doesn't do terribly well with haircuts, so I would end up finishing it at home. My wife was terrified of doing it and messing it up, so I started letting her practice on me before a head-shaving and last year we started doing basic buzz cuts for our son in the summer (which have continued this year - he gets one non-buzz cut just in time for holiday pictures).

Dh would never let me anywhere near his hair and I don't blame him, lol. I'm no barber.

I don't know why, but when ds was very little, dh got the idea in his head to give him a haircut, saying it would be easy. When he finished, ds looked like Jim Carey in "Dumb and Dummer". It was horrible, lol. We still laugh about that.
