Thank you for asking!!!! I totally forgot to "report in."

He came back So excited and ready to go back next year. His team is helping to build a school for the native Indians. The Indians go to school during the day....learn Bible and tools to spread and teach the Gospel, and they also have a wood working shop to teach them a trade as well. They go to school in town during the evening to learn the 3 R's.

These native Indians can go back into their tribes and villages where no one else is even allowed to go, and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This year, his team worked on the wood-working shop and 2 classrooms. The shop already had the foundation laid, but they built the classrooms from the "grass up"! :D They didn't get the roofs finished on the classrooms, but got a lot done anyway.

He really loves that area and even enjoys the hard physical labor. They started work at 6:00am and worked til around 7:00pm. And it was hard work....no state-of-the-art equipment. Shovels and wheelbarrows and lots of elbow grease. He has a heart for that region, and I hope and pray God blesses his desire to work and allows him to go back next year.

Will someone else finish the roof? Or do they have to wait for next year to get that done?
I'm SO glad your ds has found something he enjoys doing to help spread the Word.

I wish DD would have time to do a mission trip. With school during the summer and almost year round, there is no time.

Perhaps she could start small - doing some local volunteering - and pray about it. If she prays about it, she really wants to go & should, sooner or later, God will make a way.

His place of employment (one of the two largest govt. contractors) actually acknowledged his mission work. They had an "All-Hands" meeting and he was called to the front and recognized for his efforts. They had a very nice article/write-up - pics included - that will be in their newsletter/magazine, a beautiful certificate of recognition, and a cash award! He was blown away as it was totally unexpected. I was also floored that he was recognized at all for this mission trip, given that his company is such a large organization and certainly not Christian-based. You just never know.....
