Family Christian bookstores all closed in February
http://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2017/february/all-family-christian-stores-closing-fcs-liquidation.html

Was trying to see if there was one nearby. I hate that they bought out all the independent Christian bookstores once upon a time, now they are all gone :(
I wonder if they will ever come back?

:( We haven't had a local Christian bookstore for quite some time. There's one an hour away from us. Online buying has replaced most of them. We don't' even have regular bookstores!

I have a special precious memory of our small Christian bookstore. I am so sad they're all closed now.
It was also one of our family favorites for Christmas shopping.

The last couple of times I went there, it was really disappointing. They were busy chasing trends and only buying the latest best-seller titles. None of the classics. I couldn't find ANY decent children's Bibles - only brand new this week fluff. And a lot of pretty trinkets & toys.

Sadly, I ended up going across the street to a secular bookstore to find a Children's Bible that was well-written & properly illustrated.

And, if they didn't have what you wanted, they'd say "we can order it for you, and you can come back (1/2 hour trip!) and get it next week" Of course people opt for internet purchases under such circumstances.

It is sad - because at one time they WERE a good bookstore.

I do not like online shopping. I dont like shopping much anyway, but I want to touch and hold things before buying them. Online is never what I think it is, and then sending it back is a pain.
