Have you heard of this new "Bible"? It's called "The Story: The Bible as one continuing story of God and His people". It's in chronological order and is condensed to 31 short chapters, and it's supposed to flow together and read like a novel.

I'd never heard of it, but my mom brought it home from church and said that's what they're doing as a church. They say it will be good for the people in the church who have difficulty reading or don't like to read. She also brought home a version for older kids and one for little kids. It looks like the text is straight out of the NIV Bible, it just leaves out some of the "boring" stuff like long lists of names? I can't find anything that says what it leaves out, though, that's what I want to know. I'm going to see if I can find any reviews, dig up any dirt, like they leave out the part where Jesus dies on the cross or something.

But it does seem do-able. You're supposed to read one chapter a week and each chapter is around 6 pages. I already have to do so much reading for school, so maybe I will give it a try because I haven't been doing much Bible reading.

Mom to Christian (13), Saphira (10), Xavier (5), and Adrian (2).

It may be a new version (I don't remember it being broken up into chapters like that?) but it's not new at all : )

I think it is brilliant. It is essentially an abridged Bible - like a Bible Story Book for bigger people - so you get the flow and the story, without being distracted by long lists of genealogies and laws, etc. I've never read it from cover to cover, but I HAVE given it as a gift, more than once.

I'm sure that people can find things to fault as far as what it leaves out, but I think it is a good concept, well-executed. (And, as we all know, *I* can find the negative side of anything  , so if *I* like it . . . . ;) )

If you are a person who has trouble "getting into" reading the Bible at this stage of your life - for whatever reason - I think it's a wonderful step in the right direction :D
