Dh and I will begin a Wed nite Bible study starting in Sept at an Antiochian Orthodox church, they also have a seminar about the church in Oct.

This church is close by to long time friends of ours who are at the moment 'churchless', hoping to get them to explore this option, also.

Oh! Keep us posted. I'd love to hear about this new journey you are taking!
I hope your friends do decide to go, also. :)

I'd like to know what the "Antiochian" means in relations to Eastern Orthodox?

It means its from the Syrian church of Antioch, as opposed to an ethnic Greek or Russian one. The ones here have multiracial congregations. It also just happens that I had a Syrian uncle, a Christian who emigrated to Cuba and married my mom's sister so I am familiar with the food ;)

Ah, but I think you should worry about who offers the best COFFEE! That is truly what God made to bring people together for fellowship!

REAL Greek coffee is AMAZING!

But, the stuff they serve from the Bunn coffee maker right after Church? Always makes me think of that famous Abraham Lincoln quote, which I paraphrase, "If this is coffee, please bring me tea. If this is tea, please bring me coffee."

Cool, Briva ~ happy for you. Our parish is Antiochian; our priest has spoken highly of that priest.
