Have you heard of any of these missionaries and martyrs?

Yesterday was the day we remembered many of the missionaries and martyrs of North America and I realized that I had not heard of any of these men prior to a couple of years ago. Such interesting stories of courage and God's faithfulness. At the same time George Washington became president of the new USA, Christian missionaries were arriving in what would someday become Alaska. We added learning about these Christian missionary endeavors to our homeschooling when we study the history of America.

Nope. I don't think I've ever heard of any of those.

I know, me either! It kinda makes me sad because there's a huge history there of these men bringing the Christian faith to the "new world." Our family is hoping to go on a pilgrimage of sorts to Alaska in the next couple of years to visit some of the places mentioned in the stories (Spruce Island and then some of the towns/cities).
